Have an old web cam sitting on your computer desk collecting dust and haven’t touched because it takes pictures so crappy it looks like its snowing in your bedroom! Well, time to awaken the one-eyed monster, I’m talking about the web cam you pervs, and put it to some use with these 2 amazingly FREE applications. First up, Cameroid, this online utility lets you take pictures through contorted lenses, special effects (Like Heat Vision) or even put your face on a monkey for those of you who already don’t look like one. Last, but not least is BananaSecurity, this security software combined with your web cam gives you your very own facial recognition suite for locking and unlocking your computer. I know its hard to trust security software with the word banana in it, but this program works surprisingly well, for FREE facial recognition software; I even use it myself. Takes a minute to set up and your good to go!

Heres a gift from my days as a Technology student; Everybody knows how students are always broke and in debt and how most small business’s are cheap and ignorant when it comes to anything IT related, especially network security. So I have provided a FREE method of outfitting your home or small business network with an Intrusion Detection System (IDS) and how to automatically generate human-readable and useful reports from the logs your IDS generates. Thats right FREE, this seems to be a theme on this site as you may have noticed, thats because I’m not rich… yet. Anyway check out my write up for this free setup HERE.
